Career progression / pathways have bene clear from the beginning. Managers are keen to help you set goals & achieve them. There are always opportunities there for people who want them.
There are around 7 levels in the company, from a fresher to Director/Partner. The next promotion for me might be graduate accountant then intermediate accountant then senior accountant, then Manager, Associate Director & Director. (Most likely this is the organisational structure but I am not completely sure) Promotion in theory should be based on merit, loyalty & leadership skills. And I am sure that an organization, like Accru, functioning for 150+ years, is growing because they aspire to follow the theoretical benchmarks.
I feel very supported regarding the ability to progress my career. All juniors have fortnightly catch ups with a more senior person - these catch ups allow us to discuss our goals and how we can work towards achieving them and push ourselves. They also encourage feedback on areas we are less confident with in order to organise training in these areas (either internal or external). To move up the ranks from a junior paraplanner to intermediate paraplanner, the main goal is to meet a total client fee amount for the clients you manage (around $450-$500k in fees). We also construct goals surrounding our team (eg. contributing to team KPIs) and the firm (eg. assisting to organise events) which i'm sure would be part of progressing to an intermediate.
To advance within the company, it’s important to consistently outperform expectations and go beyond your assigned tasks. Demonstrating initiative and taking on responsibilities beyond your immediate role can significantly enhance your prospects. Engaging with the entire organization, rather than limiting interactions to your team, is also key—this shows your ability to collaborate and contribute on a broader scale. Being proactive, outgoing, and building strong relationships across the firm are valuable traits that can help you stand out. However, it’s worth noting that promotions may take time, as they often depend on factors like performance, opportunities within the company, and organizational needs. While the company does provide opportunities to support career aspirations, the journey requires patience, perseverance, and consistent effort
