Easy to take on secondments and short term roles at higher level
Within the wider company promotion is possible, however the graduate role locks you in at a low salary for two years, leaving little room to move up.
The opportunities are really good I think. There are lots of opportunities for internal secondments which managers are generally very supportive of, which help expand your skillset and gain experiences in different roles. There's also opportunities for higher duties when managers go on leave etc. There is also lots of internal L&D opportunities which managers are generally encouraging of you to pursue. However a lot of other opportunities are fixed term, ongoing jobs are hard to find currently as the budget is very tight, which is a negative.
I feel like if I do my time, keep working towards the goals outlined in my PDP, and proactively seek opportunities to learn, grow and rise, then there's very few barriers for career progression. There are also lots of opportunities for secondments and lateral moves given the size of the department.
