It is mixed, however none of them have enough time to be managers as they are all trying to also be full time engineers.
Managers within my business group are very approachable, good mentors and good feedback
Managers have been supportive, but my direct manager has been very hands-off and I would have liked a bit more proactive support. I have asked a couple of times to have some support seeking out particular projects/types of work or seeking out assistance completing my work, but whilst I have always been met with assent this hasn't materialised. I've now been moved to a different team and the manager is more proactive which I'm really liking. However, I do want to say both managers have been very supportive and good with managing some stressful discussions, and I have always felt supported. I think the fact that work is one of the first places I have disclosed my neurodivergence says a lot about the incredibly supportive culture and management definitely makes that possible. My BGL has been a very good manager; he has gone out of his way to recognise and compliment me on taking advantages of opportunities that arise, and I think is a big part of creating the team culture of support, recognition, and shared purpose.
