My managers are very approachable and seek to assist where they can, if they have the capacity to do so. They are also supportive of opportunities that support my development. There is a movement towards more feedback and recognition of good work, which is given both personally and occasionally via a regular update email sent out by the manger.
This seems to vary greatly from team to team in my experience and observations. I have had a couple of really amazing managers who have been great mentors, with great communication, feedback and praise/recognition. Unfortunately, I also experienced having a manger who I was not satisfied with as they did not seem to care about my development and didn't do a good job of bringing me into the team or their work (making it clear that there was no value seen in doing so when I wouldn't be remaining in their space for more than 6 months). It is really the luck of the draw, and with 3 rotations/managers throughout the program the chances seem to be that at least one of them will end up as a valuable mentor.
