The structure is very top-down, teams are often siloed, they have recently introduced a new culture program but implementing this in such a large organisation has shown issues. Many senior and executive leaders are not seen or heard from by individual contributors and again redundancies are seen as normal and constant, some people are expecting them. Overall, it's a very strange place, some teams are fantastic, and some are 50 years behind.
Most of the workplace culture is virtual. Occasionally there would be some events that incentivise colleagues to go into the office.
Everyone is very friendly. I have a manager, who I check in with regularly. I also have regular meetings with the highest manager weekly / fortnightly, to check our progress as a team. There is a clear structure of communication and responsibility. Most days, it involves a high degree of cooperation and teamwork amongst colleagues who focus on our tasks. We also socialise in the office, at lunchtime and we occasionally go for drinks after work.
Work culture is great so far. Team members support each other and encouraged networking with other teams as well. After hours events, gaming etc are organised time to time.
Lots of opportunity to connect with co-workers outside of work. Sadly not many workers come into the office, so harder to get that face-to-face connection but otherwise Telstra employees are fairly happy to network and meet one another.
