I am an Indigenous woman, and I can see there is so much effort from the diversity teams to make improvements, but this is not always shared by the rest of the company. I can see many Indigenous people leaving due to the huge cultural load, and there is not a big group of us left, that in itself is not a great indicator of the performance. This company has a big problem with talking the talk but not walking the walk, just check the latest RAP and you'll get a better understanding of why.
Telstra has an active program to hire a diverse range of people and skills. We are a cohesive and supportive team of people. Telstra provides a lot of support to people who may need adjustment in the recruitment process and while in work itself.
The company environment is diverse and it adds value to the company culture. Also they have separate programs to celebrate diversity and talk about the topics etc.
Telstra is very open about being diverse in their workforce, particularly being a tech company. They also have a strong view about First Nations and attending those customers which does include different trainings and experiences.
