The grad program training was great, we got to meet previous grads and other employees are always happy to introduce themselves and have chats if you say you're a grad. The dedicated team responsible for the grad program are fantastic but severely underfunded, a lot of events we try to run are funded through the grads themselves or fundraising. There are heaps of other training programs that support professional and personal development that are available to all company and you don't have to always seek approval to access which is great. Feedback is continuous throughout the year in some teams, whereas in others it only comes around during performance review, it's a mixed bag.
Lots of training and development resources to be used and there are days that are organised to encourage training outside of your normal role.
There are mandatory learning programs that are Telstra wide and relevant to my role. They involve general customer service, how to use software, codes of conduct, working practices. I was offered professional opportunities in merchandise and to work on projects. There is a large online catalog that you can learn voluntarily. There are in person immersion events, which helped me learn about the technical side of infrastructure. I have been coached and mentored by all of my coworkers, graduates and managers. This all helps me develops my personal and professional skills.
Mentoring I received from my team leaders have been great. Also certification training and exam taking are encouraged which are sponsored by the company. Udemy and LinkedIn learning platforms are free for the employees. There are other training platforms and programs are available internally to get to know the business and other teams.
Telstra does emphasize a lot on training and building a strong foundation. So I have been able to participate in a lot of training and skill uplifting sessions. Coaching here is also great as we are able to receive a lot of feedback on a regular basis.
