Recently there have been instances where promotions available were filled externally rather than promoting up. However, this has been recognised within the leadership team. Holistically, I believe skills and the ability to do the job to the best of one's ability is what gets the promotion. And so far as part of the grad program as well as out of it, I've been provided opportunities to upskill as required and prepare for any opportunities that might come up. Due to reorg within the company, our function has concentrated to a few key activities, lessening the opportunities available to broaden my skills.
Currently working outside my core discipline and the discipline I was hired for due to role availability. Lack of opportunity
Generally, every opportunity is made to ensure that people have a solid path towards career progression. Promotions are available if you're willing to work at it, but also to seek those opportunities out. It is not enough to be hard working and competent, you also need to canvassing and pushing your own cart. Some feedback : It is not entirely consistent across the organisation though. I have always been encouraged to apply for roles through the internal recruitment processes however, some discipline areas with graduates are instructed not to partake in the internal recruitment process.
Annual promotions for the 3-year grad program. Once off the program promotions depend on the individual's development plan and performance.
